Renuvion J-Plasma in Paris

Renuvion (also called J-Plasma) is a minimally invasive treatment that tightens loose skin with no facelift and no visible scar. Beneath the skin, fine cannulas deliver a cold helium plasma combined with radiofrequency: the heat instantly contracts the collagen fibres and restarts their synthesis, for a lasting tightening effect. In Paris, Dr Vincent Hunsinger uses it on the neck, jawline, arms, belly, thighs or knees — alone or alongside liposuction — as a gentle alternative to a facelift.

01What is Renuvion J-Plasma technology?

The procedure uses very fine cannulas inserted beneath the skin to deliver high-energy electromagnetic waves (Renuvion technology). These waves cause a temporary rise in the temperature of the skin tissues (to around 85°C), leading to their contraction and tightening.

At the same time as these electromagnetic waves are delivered, ionised helium gas is released by the device, and this combination creates a cold plasma (J-Plasma technology) that precisely targets the subcutaneous layers and immediately cools the treated areas. This process avoids any risk of burns or skin-damaging side effects. It also triggers a regeneration of the subcutaneous tissues with new collagen synthesis that, over the long term, helps improve the skin’s elasticity.

The benefits of the procedure

The main advantage of the Renuvion J-Plasma technique is to tighten the skin durably without undergoing major surgery and with no scar. Recovery is faster and any scars are virtually invisible after the procedure.
This plastic surgery treatment therefore stands out as an attractive compromise, since it is far less traumatic than a facelift yet more effective than some aesthetic medicine procedures, which on their own are sometimes not enough to tighten the skin.

Which body areas can be treated with Renuvion?

Broadly speaking, the Renuvion treatment can help tighten the skin on any area of the body. The most commonly treated areas are, however:

  • the neck and the jawline (double chin or excess skin);
  • the inner arms;
  • the thighs;
  • the knees;
  • the belly, and in particular the abdominal apron, for better-defined body contours with no visible scar;
  • the back;
  • the buttocks.

Given how minimally invasive the procedure is and how limited the recovery is, it is even possible to treat several areas of the body during the same session, or to combine it with other procedures such as liposuction.

02What are the results of the Renuvion non-surgical facelift?

The result of a Renuvion J-Plasma procedure is visible immediately, with noticeably firmer skin, by at least 50%. Several months (usually 4 to 6) may, however, be needed to see the final effects, because of the time lag caused by the formation of the new collagen synthesis. After this period, the skin is visibly firmer with better-defined contours and a clear lifted effect, all with no visible scar.

04How the procedure works

01

Before the procedure

The procedure is preceded by a pre-operative assessment in the office: the surgeon evaluates the laxity, defines the areas to be treated and rules out any contraindications. The type of anaesthesia is chosen and a realistic result is explained. The usual pre-procedure instructions (stopping aspirin/anti-inflammatories, smoking) are given.

02

During the procedure

Renuvion is performed on an outpatient basis (you go home the same evening), under local anaesthesia, sedation or general anaesthesia depending on the extent, and most often takes less than an hour per area. The surgeon makes very fine incisions (~3 mm) in discreet spots, then slides a cannula beneath the skin: the device delivers the radiofrequency waves + the cold helium plasma, which briefly raise the tissue temperature (~85°C) to contract the collagen, while the helium cools instantly and prevents any burns. The cannula is moved slowly for an even result. The procedure can be combined, through the same incisions, with liposuction.

Duration ≈ 1 hr / area Anaesthesia Local, sedation or general
03

After the procedure

Recovery is lighter than after a facelift: transient swelling, bruising and redness, partly linked to the gas insufflation; the helium gas is absorbed within about ten days. Pain is mild (simple painkillers). There is generally no social downtime, but wearing a compression garment is recommended and sport is paused for ~4 weeks. The result is visible immediately (skin firmer by at least 50%) and then final at around 4 to 6 months, the time needed for neocollagenesis.

06Your questions

What are the risks of Renuvion J-Plasma?+

The technology is designed to avoid burns thanks to the immediate cooling by the helium, and the ~3 mm incisions keep recovery short. The possible side effects remain mild: swelling, bruising, transient loss of sensation in the area, and very rare infections. The procedure must be carried out by an experienced surgeon, which reduces the risks even further.

What is the price of a Renuvion treatment in Paris?+

At the office, expect €2,000 to €4,000 for one area and €4,000 to €8,000 for multiple areas, depending on how extensive the correction is and the type of anaesthesia. A personalised quote is given after the pre-operative assessment.

Is Renuvion effective? What do reviews say?+

The vast majority of patients see a clear, lasting tightening of the skin, with better-defined contours. The result is visible immediately (skin tightened by at least 50%) and then refines over 4 to 6 months. It is a recognised solution between aesthetic medicine and a facelift.

How many sessions are needed?+

In general, a single session is enough for a lasting result (at a stable weight). Additional sessions are only considered in particular cases (several areas, very loose skin).

On which areas, and can the belly be treated?+

Yes: the belly (including the abdominal apron) is one of the most requested areas, along with the neck and jawline, the inner arms, the thighs, the knees, the back and the buttocks. Several areas can be treated in the same session.

Can Renuvion be combined with liposuction?+

Yes, and it is in fact common: liposuction removes stubborn fat and Renuvion tightens the skin through the same incisions, in the same operating time — an effective pairing when fat and laxity coexist.

Renuvion or a facelift: what's the difference?+

A facelift removes excess skin surgically (scars, longer recovery) and remains the gold standard on very lax skin. Renuvion tightens without removing skin, with no visible scar and with light recovery: ideal on mild to moderate laxity, but it does not correct significant excess skin.

When are the results visible and are they permanent?+

A tightening effect is visible as soon as you leave; the final result is seen at around 4 to 6 months, the time it takes for the new collagen to form. It is lasting as long as your weight stays stable, but it does not stop natural ageing.

What are the limits of the treatment?+

Renuvion does not correct skin that is too damaged or too stretched (a facelift is then preferable) and does not stop skin ageing. That is one more reason for an honest assessment during the consultation.

Is Renuvion covered by French national health insurance?+

No. Renuvion is a purely cosmetic procedure: it does not entitle you to any insurance coverage, even partial, from the French national health insurance.

What are the contraindications?+

The treatment is not advised in cases of pregnancy, coagulation disorders, untreated skin conditions, a tendency to abnormal scarring (hypertrophic, keloid) or an active, uncontrolled disease. These points are checked during the pre-operative assessment.
