01Jawline contouring: what is it?
Painless and non-invasive, jawline contouring is the non-surgical alternative for redefining the lower face without an implant or an operation. Hyaluronic acid is injected as a filler along the mandibular bone, from the chin to the angle of the jaw, to bring out the angle and draw a crisp line. The result is a more defined jaw, a better-projected chin and a more harmonious facial contour.
Who is jawline contouring for?
It is particularly suitable:
- for a poorly defined facial contour or a receding chin (retrogenia) lacking projection;
- to refine a face considered too round and give it a more angular look;
- to define the boundary between the jawline and the neck in the case of a double chin;
- to tighten sagging jowls and revitalise the lower third of the face;
- to rebalance the proportions — a nose then appears less prominent.

02Jawline contouring for men and women
The goal differs depending on the face. In men, the aim is a wide, angular jaw, a sign of assertiveness: the mandibular angle is volumised boldly. In women, the approach is more measured — the aim is a fine, crisp line that lengthens the facial contour, without masculinising. In every case the approach stays « naturally French »: it underlines the existing structure, without excess.
03Hyaluronic acid or Botox: two opposite approaches
Two techniques are often confused under the word « jawline », even though they work in opposite directions:
- hyaluronic acid adds volume and definition: it shapes and reinforces the jaw — this is jawline contouring proper, popular in particular with men;
- Botox in the masseters (the jaw muscles), on the other hand, slims a jaw that is too square or « bulky », often sought by women, and as a bonus relieves bruxism (teeth grinding).
The choice — or even combining the two — is decided during the consultation based on your anatomy and the desired effect.
04Before / after results

05How the procedure works
Before the procedure
A consultation makes it possible to analyse the shape of the face and define the areas to be treated (mandibular line, angle of the jaw, tip of the chin) and the desired effect (men/women, volume or refinement). In the days before the session, it is advisable to avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatories (aspirin) to limit bruising. An anaesthetic cream can be applied 30 minutes beforehand to numb the area.
During the procedure
Once the skin has been disinfected, the doctor marks the entry points and then injects the hyaluronic acid (or a collagen biostimulator such as Sculptra) by the intradermal route, using an atraumatic cannula or a fine needle. The volumising, cohesive gel is placed between the chin and the angle of the mandible to define the right angle of the jaw, focusing on the area most in need of correction. The session lasts 15 to 30 minutes and ends with a massage that smooths the product evenly along the whole mandibular line.
After the procedure
The result is immediate and natural-looking: a crisper, more defined jaw as soon as you leave the practice. The aftermath is minimal — slight swelling and sometimes a little redness in the first few days, with no social downtime. Avoid intensive sport for a few hours. A touch-up is possible at around 15 days and a follow-up is offered at 2 to 4 weeks. The effect lasts 12 to 18 months, before the hyaluronic acid is gradually resorbed.

07Your questions
What is jawline contouring?+
It is the reshaping of the jaw and the facial contour without surgery, through hyaluronic acid injections along the mandibular line. It sharpens the angle of the jaw and projects the chin, for a crisper, more structured lower face.
How much does jawline contouring cost in Paris?+
Expect roughly €800 to €1,800 with hyaluronic acid and €800 to €1,500 with a collagen biostimulator (Sculptra), depending on the amount of product and the areas treated. The quote is detailed during the consultation.
Jawline contouring for men or women: what is the difference?+
In men, the angle is volumised boldly for a wide, angular jaw. In women, the approach is more measured, for a fine, crisp line that refines the facial contour without masculinising.
Hyaluronic acid or Botox for the jaw?+
These are two opposite approaches: hyaluronic acid adds volume to shape a jaw (jawline contouring); Botox in the masseters, on the other hand, slims a jaw that is too square and relieves bruxism. The choice depends on the desired effect.
How long does a session last?+
A session generally lasts 15 to 30 minutes, including the finishing massage.
Is jawline contouring painful?+
No, it is almost painless: an atraumatic cannula and an anaesthetic cream are used, and the hyaluronic acid contains an anaesthetic (lidocaine).
How long do the results last?+
The result generally lasts 12 to 18 months before the hyaluronic acid is resorbed; a repeat session is then all it takes to maintain it.
Do I need to take time off work or stop sport afterwards?+
No: you resume your activities immediately. Just avoid intensive sport for a few hours.
Are there any precautions to take beforehand?+
Avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatories (aspirin) in the days beforehand to limit swelling and bruising.
What are the risks and contraindications?+
The procedure is very safe in expert hands: the aftermath is limited to slight swelling or redness. It is not advised in the case of pregnancy or breastfeeding, clotting disorders or certain rare autoimmune diseases.
Non-surgical or surgical jawline: which to choose?+
Jawline contouring by injection suits most aesthetic requests. To permanently alter the bone structure (a very receding chin, the mandibular angle), a genioplasty or jaw surgery is, on the other hand, necessary.
Is jawline contouring covered by insurance?+
No: as an aesthetic procedure, it is not covered by the French national health insurance.
